The Membership and Engagement Manager for the ADA, Danielle Edwards has been involved with dental practice accreditation from its inception and is a certified lead auditor with many years of practice-based experience. She is actively involved in the operation and regulation of the national private dental practice accreditation program as well as contributing to the development of the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards and supporting resources.

Dr. Bharat Agrawal completed his Bachelor of Oral Health in Dental Science and Graduate Diploma of Dentistry at Griffith University, graduating with multiple final year awards. His Masters dissertation in Aesthetic Dentistry at Kings College in London examined the effectiveness and longevity of take-home dentist prescribed tray bleaching techniques combined with a clinical audit. He has presented on tooth whitening, digital workflows, the alignment-restorative interface, and the provision of Invisalign with a key focus on minimally invasive aesthetic dentistry. In 2018, his report on combination aesthetic treatments was selected for publication by Invisalign. Dr. Agrawal is actively involved in mentoring and teaching recent graduates. Dr Christopher Barker is a former jackaroo-turned dental specialist; He has a keen interest in rugby, slow roasting and mountain trekking.   After ten years of general dentistry, he completed his Doctorate in Clinical Dentistry, specialising in Periodontology, at Griffith University in 2014. Dr Claudia Lopez Silva is a specialist in and the Discipline Lead of Special Needs Dentistry at the University of Queensland.

Dr George Dimitroulis is the founder and director of MAXONIQ. He started the company in 2016 by developing a digital platform for designing and manufacturing innovative medical devices for the field of craniomaxillofacial surgery.

Dr George also runs his own specialist practice in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

Geraldine Moses is a Doctor of Clinical Pharmacy specialising in Medicines Information who provides the ADA’s national drug advisory service ‘Pharma-Advice’. In between responding to queries from dentists, she works in Drug Information service at the Mater Hospital in Brisbane and works as an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Schools of Pharmacy at the University of Queensland and Qld University of Technology (QUT).

She also consults to organisations such as the Department of Veterans Affairs, NPS MedicineWise, and the Australian Commission for Safety and Quality in Healthcare. Geraldine is a member of the expert writing group for the most recent edition of Therapeutic Guidelines- Oral and Dental, sits on the ADA Therapeutics Committee and presents CPD for dentists and pharmacists throughout Australia and New Zealand.

Greg graduated from University of Queenslands (UQ) School of Dentistry, after a number of years successfully owning and operating his private practice, he sought the academic challenges of further higher education. In 1997, he completed his Graduate Diploma in Clinical Dentistry at the University of Sydney (USyd) in pain control and conscious sedation and in 2001, completed his Masters of Science in Dentistry (USyd) where his thesis examined the association of workplace performance and toothache. This, led to his PhD (UQ) centred on risk management of putative risk factors associated with unscheduled dental visits. Greg is also a Fellow of the Academies of Dentistry International and Perrier Fauchard.
Greg has held a number of academic positions with the University of Queensland and Sydney. He has been president of the Australian Society of Dental Anaesthesiology (2009-2021) and the Australasian Military Medicine Association (2009-18). Furthermore, he is/has been a consultant to the Australian Defence Force and the Australian Dental Association on sedation and pain control. Greg has publications on sedation, epidemiology and medical emergencies and lectures nationally and internationally on nitrous oxide sedation, local anaesthetic and medical emergencies. Jameel is a Brisbane-based surgeon who brings a wealth of expertise having previously worked as an Oral and Maxillofacial surgeon in well-renowned tertiary hospitals in Melbourne and Europe. He was previously appointed as a lead lecturer in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery at the University of Melbourne. In these roles, he convened several Australian-based courses teaching clinicians about surgical removal of wisdom teeth, implantology and oral surgery and has been heavily involved in the training of future surgeons.

Dr. Lan Tran graduated from the University of Queensland in 1995 and moved to her own private practice in 1998. Dr Marina Kamel is a specialist periodontist based at Westside Perio and Implants, Brisbane. She completed Bachelor of Dental Surgery with Distinction from the University of Otago, NZ in 2012. He has conducted CPD lectures and webinars for over 10 years for ADAQ and ADA Federal, and recently for ADA Victoria, DHAA and ADOHTA. Dr Webb gives lectures at 8  Universities around Australia for BOH and Dentistry students, and is a final year external examiner for UQ.

Maryam is an oral medicine specialist with special interest in complex cases. After finishing her dental degree and a PhD in genetics of head and neck cancer, she trained as an oral medicine specialist at Brigham and Women's Hospital/Harvard Dental School with an externship at Eastman Dental Hospital, London. She returned to Australia in January 2019 to become the program convener and discipline lead in oral medicine at UWA and since June 2021 she has been practising in both public and private sectors in Brisbane.

Dr Burgess is a specialist Oral and Maxillofacial surgeon with a special interest in Temporomandibular Joint surgery and Orthognathic surgery.

He currently has appointments at The Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and the Queensland Children’s Hospital as well as a private practice in Brisbane.

Originally from Maitland, NSW, Michael finished school at St Joseph’s College in Sydney before completing Dentistry at Sydney University. After working with his father in Newcastle as a dentist for 2 years Michael went back to medical school at Newcastle University.

After completing his formal medical training in Newcastle Michael started Oral and Maxillofacial surgical training, working in Sydney, Perth and Brisbane.

After training, Michael completed a specialist fellowship in Melbourne with Dr George Dimitroulis, a world leader in his field of Temporomandibular Joint surgery. As part of this training Michael also trained with Orthognathic surgeons Dr Patricia Bordbar, Dr Joseph Gunn and Dr Ricky Kumar gaining significant experience in Orthognathic Surgery, particularly asymmetric facial deformities using Virtual Surgical Planning.
 

Dr. Michael Lewis registered as a general dentist in 2003 graduating with honours and completed his Doctorate of Clinical Dentistry in Prosthodontics at the University of Sydney in 2010. In 2010 he passed the MRACDS for the Royal Australasian College of Dentists by examination. Michael is a Visiting Specialist Prosthodontist to the University of Queensland Dental School and formerly to the Royal Australian Air Force. Dr Mike Todorovic is an active researcher who was awarded his PhD in the field of Clinical Neuroscience in 2016. He is a senior lecturer of anatomy and physiology, recognised for his science outreach on YouTube, Podcasts, ABC Radio, and Television. He has received numerous awards for teaching excellence and has successfully obtained funding for his research.
With an interest in neurological disorders, Dr Todorovic focuses his research on dementia and spinal cord injury. His expertise in molecular biology and pathophysiology contributes to a multidisciplinary approach to evaluate and treat complex disorders, such as pain in dementia.

Dr Morris Sarabi graduated with Doctorate in dental Surgery (DDS) and obtained PhD in Dental Science at 2002; he worked in private practice for 6 years focusing on prosthetics and restorative dentistry. Morris has extensive knowledge and experience in Digital Dentistry and CAD/CAM technologies as being studying and working in this filed for more than 14 years. 
Morris has worked with dental universities and CAD/CAM developer companies in order to develop digital – clinical workflow and integration into surgery and laboratory protocols. He has been involved with Research and Development as clinical advisor, tester and trial of new technologies; software, hardware and materials.
Morris has special interests in CAD designing software and 3D printing technologies, and tries to keep up to date with new developments in digital dentistry, and likes to familiarise himself with any digital technologies that become available.

Dr Omar Ikram was born In Christchurch, New Zealand and did his undergraduate degree at Otago University. After practising in New Zealand he relocated to the United Kingdom, where he gained valuable experience in endodontics, emergency dentistry and cosmetic dental procedures.

After completing his General Stream Fellowship for the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons, he specialised in Endodontology at King's College, London, and then moved to Sydney.  Omar established Specialist Endo Crows Nest and has been the President of the NSW Australian Society of Endodontology. 

In 2019, Omar was inducted into the International College of Dentists, and in 2021 he became a Fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy. In addition, Omar is a Co-developer of a smartphone app, The Endoprep, an easy-to-use app designed to help dentists improve the standards in endodontic care.

Dr. Omar Ikram graduated from Otago University, where he obtained his Bachelor of Dental surgery. During his time as a general dental practitioner in New Zealand and in the United Kingdom, he gained vast experience in endodontics, restorative dentistry and cosmetic dentistry. In 2005 he achieved the Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Dental surgeons. He began specialist training the same year at Kings College and his master's thesis was published in the International Endodontists journal during his final year. After completing specialist training, he moved to Sydney and established his private practice in Crows Nest.

Dr Peter JM Fairbairn has been involved in Implant placement for over 31 years as well as scientific and clinical development of synthetic graft materials for over 20 of them.  He is a Visiting Professor at the University of Detroit Mercy, School of Dentistry, Mi, USA and practices in Kensington, West London.

Peter is honorary life member and past Director of the ADI (UK) and a past president of the London Dental Fellowship. He has lectured on surgical and implant Dentistry for over 15 years in over 50 countries worldwide and presented numerous webinars to a global audience.  He has published countless publications including many research papers in Pubmed as well as Chapters in two books and is currently working on a third with Quintessence.

Dr Raahib Dudhia is the discipline lead of the DMFR training program at The University of Queensland and has worked in specialist practice for over 12 years, reviewing x-rays, CBCT, CT and MRI scans of the oral and maxillofacial regions.  His experience includes reporting for large private radiology practices alongside head and neck radiologists, but he also enjoys working more closely with dental practitioners and specialists helping them provide the highest level of patient care.  As a tech lover, Raahib loves to explore new imaging hardware and software and has experience with many of the CBCT machines currently available.  He especially enjoys imaging for endodontics and is passionate about low-dose CBCT imaging techniques.

Dr Sarah Chaw is a registered specialist in Oral Medicine. She graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Dental Science with first class honours and was a recipient of multiple academic and research awards. She then completed her specialist training in Oral Medicine with a Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (Oral Medicine) from the University of Queensland.

Sarah is a Fellow of the Oral Medicine Academy of Australasia, and holds Membership in the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons in the Special Field Stream of Oral Medicine.

Sarah is an Associate Lecturer in Oral Medicine and Pathology at the University of Queensland, and has published in and served as a reviewer for multiple peer-reviewed journals. She works in private practice at Queensland Oral Medicine (Wickham Terrace, Brisbane), and in the public sector at the Herston Oral Health Centre.

Her clinical interests include orofacial pain and temporomandibular disorders, mucosal and mucocutaneous disease, potentially malignant disorders and oral oncology. Dr Sobia Zafar is a specialist paediatric dentist and a Discipline Lead in Paediatric Dentistry at The University of Queensland, Brisbane. She has presented invited courses and lectures on paediatric dentistry across Australia and internationally. She has multiple publications, comprising of full papers, a book chapter and published abstracts, in both national and international peer-review journals. She is the recipient of several scholarships and awards; including University of Otago Doctoral scholarship, Colgate senior category IADR ANZ division award (2012), best student presenter prize at the Faculty of Dentistry annual research day of University of Otago (2012, 2015), winner IADR NZ division Travel Award (2015). Dr Zafar holds the memberships of the ANZSPD, IADR, AAPD, IADT, and EAPD, and is a reviewer for several dental journals.

Dr Steve Soukoulis completed a 2 year diploma in clinical dentistry after finishing his general dental degree. This involved introductory training in most dental specialties, dental trauma and medically compromised patients. From here he entered a periodontal specialty program (clinical supervisor was Dr Kardachi) and completed this in 2001. He has worked with Dr Kardachi since this time. Dr Soukoulis has travelled nationally and internationally for short courses to further his knowledge in periodontics and implantology and bone grafting.   Dr Soukoulis has been the President of the Australian Society of Periodontology (ASP). He is currently a fellow with the International Team of Implantology (ITI) and lecturers both nationally and internationally. He is a member of the ADA (SA branch) and is accredited by the APHRA.

Dr Troy McGowan is an Australian-trained periodontist with more than a decade of experience in clinical dentistry and health leadership. Troy started his dental career in the RAAF as a general dentist before specialising in periodontics. In 2019 he was given command of the RAAF field hospital on exercise and in 2020 managed the multidisciplinary health centre at an operational air base for two years during the global COVID-19 pandemic.  As well as his time in the ADF, Troy has worked in the public and private sectors both as a dentist and periodontist and currently sits on the executive team of Pacific Smiles Group leading the department of Clinical Excellence. He holds honorary academic positions with both the University of Queensland and Central Queensland University and has published a number of articles in peer-reviewed dental journals.

Dr. Schmedding graduated from the University of Puget Sound prior to getting his DDS degree at the University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry. For 17 years, Dr. Schmedding practiced in Seattle prior to relocating to California. He held a position as an assistant professor in the Department of Integrated Reconstructive Dental Sciences at the University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry. In addition to his pursuits in academia, Dr. Schmedding enjoys his private practice in Walnut Creek, California, and lectures nationally and internationally on topics ranging from advanced dental materials and products to complex restorative procedures. He has also published articles both nationally and internationally. Dr. Schmedding is a current member of the ADA, the California Dental Association, and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. He is one of 560 dentists worldwide to be an accredited member of the American Academy of Cosmetics.

Dr Will completed his Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 2008 at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (Brazil).

In August 2012 he completed the 3-year Specialty Degree program in Orthodontics at the Brazilian Association of Dental Surgeons having Prof. Dr Arno Locks (in memoriam) as his tutor, with whom he worked for 4 years in one of his private practices.

Dr Will is also a certified Invisalign® provider since 2015. Dr Will found his passion for dentistry and orthodontics early on. He worked in the family business alongside his brother and father in their Orthodontic Laboratory during high school. Then he was accepted on his first and only attempt at the most renowned University in his state, The Federal University of Santa Catarina. In late 2015 Dr Will plans to move to Australia and certify his B.D.S. degree.

He worked full-time in his practice as a general dentist and orthodontist until October 2016. He moved to Sydney in November 2016 and became an ADC-certified dentist in Australia in 2021.

He works at Oasis Dental Studio as an associate dentist practising general dentistry with a focus on orthodontics for kids and adults.

Dr Yastira Lalla graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Dental Science in 2012. Dr Lalla began a Master of Philosophy in Oral Oncology concurrently in the final year of her undergraduate degree and completed this in 2014.

During her post-graduate studies she has worked as an Associate Dentist in the Brisbane and Ipswich areas. Dr Lalla was awarded a Doctorate of Clinical Dentistry in Dentomaxillofacial Radiology in 2018 and is a Member of the Royal Australian College of Dental Surgeons.

Dr Zeb McNamara is a patient focused surgeon who practices the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery. He enjoys the wide spectrum of cases in the field ranging from dental extractions, dental implants, corrective jaw surgery, to complex facial trauma. 

He was born and raised in Queensland and is happy that he had the opportunity whilst growing up to live both in the great south east and rural Queensland. 

During his university studies he received several accolades including the George Christensen Memorial Prize for Oral Surgery. 

Always keen to teach he has held an associate lecturer position with the University of Queensland since 2010 and was promoted to a senior lecturer position in 2017. Since 2020 Dr Zeb has been a Supervisor of Oral & Maxillofacial Training and Member of the Queensland Regional Surgical Committee. 

Dr McNamara believes that these roles allow him the opportunity to guide the next generation of Oral and Maxillofacial surgeons to the highest stand of patient care. 

Throughout his career Dr McNamara has had a keen interest in research, and has presented and published research both nationally and internationally.

Jason Savage has been with Medfin for 20 years and specialises in the start-up and purchase of dental practices. With a Bachelor of Business degree, Jason has financed more dental practices than any other business banker, right across the country.

Jonathan is a Director of The Eighth Mile Consulting, specialising in change management, leadership, human resource strategies, strategy development and communication. Jonathan’s skills enable him to make sense of organisational disruption and mentor people in identifying solutions to complex problems. 
Jonathan has 20 years of experience in leadership, strategic implementation, people management, organisational change, high-performance leadership, and team dynamics. The majority of his experience is drawn from time spent serving as an Infantry officer in the Australian Defence Force. Following a successful military career, he led high-end digital projects and further consults and facilitates for a wide variety of industries on leadership, change management and building high performing teams. Larissa has 18 years experience in the dental profession. Larissa assists ADAQ member dental practitioners with insurance claims, regulatory complaints (AHPRA/OHO/QCAT), health fund audits, regulatory requirements and patient complaints.  She has post graduate education in health management, healthcare law and ethics and research. Larissa is a registered and practising OHT.

Mark Van Zuylekom is the General Manager for Henry Schein One Australia and New Zealand. He is an experienced senior leader with a proven track-record in delivering transformational projects that have significantly improved business performance and profitability across numerous industries, including health and technology.

Dr Mitesh completed dental school at the University of Queensland in 2012. He has an obsession with cosmetic dentistry and providing his patients with long lasting dental treatment delivered in a gentle manner. To help with this, he and has completed several courses both locally and overseas including Digital Smile Design, perfecting the art of designing porcelain veneers and multiple composite veneer courses.

Rebecca Bateson is an Acting Director in the Devices Emerging Technology and Diagnostics Section, currently serving as the project lead responsible for the introduction of the suite of reforms known as the personalised medical devices framework. Rebecca has a background in Law and a Master’s in Public Administration. She has been with the TGA for 12 years, where her work has included managing the Medical Devices Information Unit and the Devices Secretariat.

Rebecca is passionate about the development of strategic solutions and resources for both internal and external stakeholders to improve day-to-day business at the TGA. She has utilised her skills to draft legislative instruments, develop associated guidance to make regulatory requirements understandable and accessible for stakeholders, and worked with staff within the TGA to develop sound structures to streamline processes and improve service delivery. In 2016, Rebecca’s commitment to stakeholder engagement was recognised with the Department of Health’s Australia Day Award for Service.

Rebecca’s team includes staff with backgrounds in biomechanical engineering and allied health. Together the personalised medical devices team are working to contact over 10,000 individually impacted stakeholders to bring the regulatory requirements of the personalised medical devices framework to their attention and assist them with achieving compliance with their obligations. The team are also members of the International Medical Device Regulator’s Forum’s Personalized Medical Devices Working group, developing guidance that can be used to harmonise the requirements for personalised medical devices with jurisdictions around the world.

Having started in the dental industry as a Dental Technician in 1998, Peter’s qualifications and experience over the years are impressive. He built his experience and reputation over many years, having operated a certified BPS® dental laboratory focusing on quality removable prosthetics, which serviced over 60 dentists and dental specialists from across Queensland and parts of Australia.

Laureate Professor Eric Reynolds AO is Chief Executive Officer and Research Director at the Oral Health CRC at the Melbourne Dental School at the University of Melbourne. In 2011 he was awarded the Distinguished Scientist Award by the International Association for Dental Research, and in 2015 the Leach Medal for research excellence and the Global Health Impact Award from the University of Melbourne. In 2016 he received the Award of Merit from the Australian Dental Association and in 2017 he received the Prime Ministers Prize for Innovation.

Professor Ian Meyers is a general dental practitioner in Brisbane Australia, and an honorary professor at The University of Queensland School of Dentistry. Professor Meyers has over thirty five years of combined experience in dental research, clinical dentistry, private practice, university clinics and hospital based dental clinics. He is a Fellow and Board Member of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons and of the International College of Dentists and is a Fellow of the Academy of Dentistry International and the Pierre Fauchard Academy. In 2017 he received the Order of Australia Medal for services to dentistry, to professional associations, and to tertiary education.

As a general dental practitioner, Ian Meyers has extensive experience in comprehensive patient care and has a special interest in diagnosis and management of worn and broken down dentition, geriatric and aged care dentistry, adhesive restorative dental materials, fibre-reinforced composites, and the management of patients through minimum intervention dentistry.

Professor Laurence Walsh AO is a specialist in special needs dentistry who is based at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, where he is an emeritus professor, having retired from UQ in 2020. Laurie has been teaching infection control and clinical microbiology for over 25 years at postgraduate level and was chief examiner in microbiology for the RACDS from 1999-2020. 
Laurie has been a member of the ADA Infection Control Committee since 1998, and has been re-appointed as its chair for 2021, having previously served as chair from 2009-2014. He has contributed to various protocols, guidelines and checklists and manuals used in Australia.
He has presented invited courses and lectures on infection control across Australia and internationally. Laurie has written over 60 articles on infection control and in addition published over 200 journal papers on clinical microbiology. He currently serves on three committees of Standards Australia (personal protective equipment; and instrument reprocessing) and in recent years has been an adviser to the Communicable Diseases Network of Australia and the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care.

Sean Perera has over 18 years of experience in the Australian Dental industry, with 14 years spent as a Data and Business Intelligence Analyst. He specialises in generating business intelligence from various data sources and assisting practices in making appropriate business management decisions based on insights gained. Sean’s technical knowledge in dental Business Information Systems, practical knowledge of dental practice operations, and Master of Business Administration (MBA) enables him to analyse information across multiple dimensions, delivering comprehensive business solutions. Sean is currently the Head of Product & Innovation at Centaur Software, creators of Dental4Windows.

Stephen Douglas is a dynamic business leader in the Australian and the UK dental products industry. He has dedicated the last 17 years to working with motivated Principal Dentists who want to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of their practice, with the primary aim of attaining patient and practitioner satisfaction. Stephen has spent most of his later career at the forefront of oral care and cosmetics. William is a qualified medical physicist specialising in radiation safety for radiation facilities across Australia.

William holds an extensive range of experience in all aspects of radiation and focuses exclusively on ensuring that all radiation practices comply with the relevant radiation laws, regulations, and standards.

William is accredited and qualified in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia, Tasmania, Australian Capital Territory and the Northern Territory to provide radiation safety and protection advice and to certify radiation apparatus and premises to the relevant safety standards.

William is also an accredited and qualified Radiation Safety Officer across Australia and a full member of the Australasia College of Physical Scientists and Engineers in Medicine (ACPSEM), the Australasian Radiation Protection Society (ARPS) and the Australian Dental Industry Association (ADIA).

William served as the Vice President of the ADIA for Queensland from 2018 to 2020.
William is well respected in the radiation industry and has sat as a board member with the Queensland Radiation Health to review the state’s radiation safety standards.
